I have borrowed this description from my sister, because it's written so well!
These vintage beads have 24K Gold fused to the sides of the beads. They were made by first pressing the
basic shape of the bead, then polishing the glass to wear off the mold marks. Then the entire bead was fused with gold, and
finally through grinding and polishing, they took the gold off the faces of the beads to leave the original glass showing. A labor intensive and expensive process!
